When DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) left Saint Marie to go back to London with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) during series six of Death in Paradise in 2017, we thought we'd seen the last of him - but this week, the detective and his fianc&eacute;e make their return in new spin-off Beyond Paradise! The six-part series sees Humphrey and Martha leave London and move to Martha's home town of Shipton Abbott, near the coast on the Devon-Cornwall border, so she can be closer to her mother, Anne (The Durrells star Barbara Flynn), and open her own business.
'Martha grew up around here, so it's home,' says Sally. 'Her mum's on her own&nbsp;as she is a widow, and Martha's dream is to set up her own cafe.' Humphrey, meanwhile, transfers to the local police station, with a new team including DS Esther Williams (The Bay's Zahra Ahmadi) and PC Kelby Hartford (Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn) - but if he was expecting life in the countryside to be quiet, he could be in for a shock...

'In the first episode, Humphrey has to deal with a case where a woman has been severely injured, paralysed, Family ties...while she was home alone and she insists that she was pushed by a witch!' explains Kris.
'That gives you an idea of the sort of cases we are dealing with. And not every investigation in this series is a murder - there's no "death" in the title!' While the stars promise we can look forward to exciting mysteries every week, Beyond Paradise will also have a major focus on Humphrey and Martha's relationship.
'I don't want to reveal too much, but they do have their problems, hints Kris. 'I do think you root for Humphrey and Martha as a couple, though - I certainly do, reading the scripts!'
