Suki Waterhouse is midway through a tour of America and woke up this morning on the bus in Philadelphia. ‘I’m in a little bit of a daze,’ she says over Zoom, now ensconced in her hotel. ‘I’ve just reached civilisation and I’m looking out on the river. It’s really gorgeous.’ While the model turned singer, actor and fashion designer is living out her wildest rock ’n’ roll dreams, what she really wants is to find a decent laundrette. ‘I’m desperately trying to find a clean pair of socks.’
It’s been a ‘bizarre’ experience for the 31-year-old seeing her dreams to become a fully-fledged singer coming to fruition soon after wrapping filming on Daisy Jones & The Six, Waterhouse’s new Prime Video series about the rise and fall of a Fleetwood Mac-style rock band in the 1970s. ‘It’s very exciting. It’s kind of crazy. I feel like I’m living out Daisy Jones & The Six,’ she laughs.
Life is imitating art to a feverish degree as she promotes her debut album, I Can’t Let Go. ‘It’s like, “Today you’re in Philly. Tomorrow, you’ll be in Denver.” And [I’m] like, “Wait, I’ve just done all of this.”’ There’s just one thing missing, though. ‘I wish I had the Daisy Jones wardrobe on hand at all times.’
