KATE MULVANY on a whodunnit with a twist
Who are you to JUDGE?

A dozen ordinary people from different backgrounds have their lives turned upside downwhen they are called for jury service on a high-profile murder trial in Australian import The Twelve, a 10-part legal drama making its UK debut on ITVX this week.

Inspired by the hit 2019 Belgian series De Twaalf, the story revolves around acclaimed artist Kate Lawson (played by Lambs of God star Kate Mulvany), who stands accused of killing her teenage niece, Claire Spears (Coco Jack Gillies).

With Claire’s body never found, no clear motive and Kate’s own family divided over her guilt, defence lawyer Brett Colby (New Zealand film star Sam Neill, whose credits include the Jurassic Park franchise) knows how crucial the jurors will be in this case.

But as proceedings get under way, it’s clear that, behind the facade of anonymity, the chosen 12 bring with them their own histories, prejudices and problems to the courtroom, and the pressures of being involved in the trial soon begins to have an impact on their personal lives.

Here, Kate, 45, gives us her take on the show and working with Sam…

Where do we find Kate Lawson as the drama begins?

When we first meet her, she’s in deep trouble. She’s been accused of murdering her 14-year-old niece, so she’s thrust into the spotlight. As a very famous Australian photographic artist, she’s used to the spotlight – but this is for the wrong reasons.
