THIS MORNING

LIVE FRIDAY, 10AM, ITV1 LIFESTYLE

No coronation celebrations would be complete without a trip to Coronation Street, and on Friday, This Morning’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will take their famous blue sofa up to Weatherfield for a very special street party.

The entire show will be broadcast live from the fictional location, and invited viewers and special guests will help kick-start the weekend’s festivities.

‘I literally cannot wait to visit the cobbles again,’ gushes Alison, 48. ‘To be there with our This Morning team for such a special occasion will be epic.’

Dermot, 49, adds, ‘We will definitely be bringing the party to Manchester that day!’

According to Weatherfield history, Coronation Street was originally named Albert Street when building of the red-brick terraces was completed on 8 August 1902. But the street was renamed Coronation Street the following day in honour of the coronation of King Edward VII - Charles’ great-great-grandfather.

Over 120 years later, Corrie boasts an illustrious connection to the monarchy. In 2000, King Charles - then the Prince of Wales - visited the set to mark the show’s 40th anniversary, and even made a cameo appearance in the soap.

The late Queen Elizabeth II, meanwhile, visited Weatherfield twice - first in 1982, and then in 2021. And just a few weeks ago, Princess Anne dropped by.
