Ed Bailey stooped to a new low at Christmas E when he pawned the family's presents to pay off a debt. But is the gambling addict about to surpass even that shameful stunt? It all looks a bit convenient when a fire breaks out at the builders' yard, mere hours after Ed's failed to flog the place to Gary Windass.

Though excommunicated by son Michael, the bankrupt builder still has the support of daughter Dee-Dee, who has allowed her demoralised dad to kip on her sofa. But he can't stay there forever. As the week kicks off, she badgers him into tackling his debts, and later suggests it's about time he moved back home.
