LOVE RAT

MONDAY-THURSDAY, 9PM,

CHANNEL 5 DRAMA

Sally Lindsay and Neil Morrissey are two of our most in-demand actors, but their paths have never crossed on the small screen – until now, that is! As TV Times catches up with the pair, they’re delighted to be joining forces to play former spouses Emma and Pete in Channel 5’s psychological thriller Love Rat, which sees a holiday romance turn into a nightmare.

‘I’d heard brilliant stories about Neil, so I was excited, because I knew he was a great actor and a laugh. Now I’ve made a new mate!’ beams Sally, 50, co-creator and star of hit comedy-drama The Madame Blanc Mysteries.

‘And working with Sally was a lovely thing about taking the job,’ enthuses Neil, 61, recently seen in buried-treasure adventure Finders Keepers. ‘It’s an intense story, and there was hardly a day when she wasn’t having to be full of angst – but we’d drag her out for supper after filming!’

Airing across consecutive nights this week, the four-parter sees mum-of-one Emma book a break to the sun-soaked island of Cyprus, where she meets charismatic hotelier Niko (The Split’s Gerald Kyd, see our interview, right).

As romance seemingly blossoms, Emma agrees to loan him money to purchase a villa so they can start a new life together. When Niko disappears with the funds, however, she realises she’s been conned and embarks on a dangerous mission, aided by Pete, to get her money back.

Here, Sally and Neil give us their take on the tale...
