How a new series explores the extraordinary ways animals use sound

Sir David Attenborough is hoping to open our ears to life as we’ve never heard it before in his new Sky epic Secret World of Sound. ‘The natural world is filled with sound, but, so far, we’ve been hearing only part of it,’ says the broadcaster, 97. ‘And we’re also only just beginning to understand the many ways that animals use sound.’

The three-part audiovisual showcase uses advanced technology to record noises that humans can’t usually hear, with microphones so precise they can detect the sound of a baby caiman calling from inside the egg!
