MARY BERRY'S HIGHLAND CHRISTMAS
NEW WEDNESDAY, 9PM, BBC1 COOKERY
A snow-covered cottage, abundant twinkly lights and a sumptuous array of dishes make for a magical Christmas in the Highlands with much-loved cook Dame Mary Berry.
‘My mother was a Scot and I’ve always been proud of my Scottish heritage,’ says Dame Mary, 88. ‘So where better to have a Christmas break? During my visit, I’ll be rustling up some Scottish-inspired dishes to serve at Christmas.’ After arriving by steam train, Dame Mary stays at a cosy abode, where the delicious treats she makes include smoked salmon and guacamole canapés, a Christmas cranachan wreath and a beefy Highland pie.
Dame Mary’s also joined by some famous friends with Scottish ties, as she helps tennis legend Sir Andy Murray, comedian Iain Stirling and singer Emeli Sandé up their culinary game.
Here, Dame Mary tells us more about her sojourn to Scotland…
