LAUREN GRAHAM: MY NEW CHAPTER

Lauren Graham never knows when inspiration will strike. Recently, for instance, she was ruminating about the downside of social media. "I'm so stubbornly not technological," says the actress, producer and bestselling writer, 55. "I feel that social media is contributing to so much of what we're struggling with, especially for young people. But that makes me sound 110 years old." That sentiment formed the germ of an idea for a story, "My First and Last Day on TikTok," which Graham has yet to write. "You start to log these things," she says of her creative process. "Now I'll say something, and a friend of mine will go, 'Oh, is that an essay?""

Those musings, along with Graham's charm and quick wit, have already resulted in three New York Times bestsellers. Her latest book, Have I Told You This Already? (available Nov. 15) is a collection of hilarious and heartfelt thoughts about her life and career, from sharing behind-the-scenes secrets of being a working actress to aging gracefully in Hollywood (and contemplating why there is always pressure to look younger).

Beloved for her roles on the hit series Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, Graham-who's currently co-executive producing and starring on the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers-first began putting the book together "deep" into the pandemic. "I was waiting to hear and waiting to hear [about work], which I'm now writing down as another essay title because that is so much a part of an actor's life," she says.
