Life as she knows it

With the world at our fingertips, filters on every picture, and unsolicited opinions becoming news reports, authenticity is more of an Instagram caption and less of an actual human trait. Not for Mrunal Thakur, though. She will ask you tough questions, respond with an almost surprising honesty, and will not be afraid to disagree with something if she has to. It’s a rare attribute but, the way she sees it, that’s the only way to be, especially in the demanding entertainment industry she is part of. “I am not one of those people who prefers projecting that my life is always perfect,” she confides. “I have worked really hard to be where I am right now. There will be a lot of people who will have their opinion. They will show you that their life is picture-perfect, but, no, it is not. In the world of Instagram where stories stay relevant for only 24 hours, people have forgotten to be real,” she tells Femina in an hour-long chat on the last Friday of 2023.

“I am just true to what I see. I am not afraid to feel my emotions. If I’m happy, I feel happy. If I feel rejected, I express myself. If I need attention, I go tell my friends that; I tell my mother that.”
