The young and dynamic Bengali food blogger Prama Mukherjee took a road less travelled six years ago when she started her Instagram page @the_spoon_of_flavours, which has a current reach of nearly 60k followers. Speaking about what inspired her to embark on this venture and her experiences over the years, she reveals, "I believe my love of food is what motivated me to embark on this journey. My best friend and I lived in Kolkata during our second year of college. One day, we were discussing how we liked to explore every other food place and how everyone in our circles came to us for recommendations on good, budget-friendly places. We decided to take this to a bigger and better platform. That's when my instagram page was born. We started it together, but she went on to pursue her career while I continued," adds the blogger.
The pandemic struck during her blog's inception. Prama recalls how the lockdown greatly influenced both creators and audiences, particularly when it came to food. "During the pandemic, every industry changed, and the change in this space was positive; people came to value simplicity more. Bloggers who used to frequent high-end restaurants began cooking at home. This made their content more approachable and relatable to a larger audience. Homecooked meals were popular, and I did a home-cooking series too," says Prama. For her, 'comfort food' equals the meals prepared by her mother.
Over the years, the content-creation industry has grown rapidly, with more&nbsp;people entering the field every day, with some pursuing it as a full-time career.&nbsp;Competitiveness is at an all-time high, and people must constantly find new ways to stand out from the crowd. "It is an industry that is constantly evolving," says Prama, offering advice to those who might want to enter it. "Don't rely on what you know. Be inventive. Invest in your creativity and ability to learn new things quickly." She admits that it was difficult for her at times to strike a balance between her full-time job and regular blogging. Her passion for food and content creation, however, kept her going. Her page is a well-designed testament to her dedication, hard work, and passion.
