DON'T LEAVE THE COUNTRY!
Femina|August 2023
India has destinations that bring many European countries to mind, without you having to spend time or money flying overseas
DON'T LEAVE THE COUNTRY!

Sure, we all like to fly out for the holidays and bring home memories of foreign destinations but, if you don’t have the time, budget or bandwidth to go abroad, you’re going to love this list. Of course, it would be foolish to expect a replication of the European destination here in India, but there’s plenty at each place to give you a wonderful break…

Can’t Fly To Switzerland? Try Himachal Pradesh

Instead of the Swiss Alps, you get the Himalayas as a backdrop in Himachal Pradesh. The outdoors both in Switzerland and in this northern state is stunning! Himachal is also where you get to be adventurous. You’ll find opportunities to go trekking in Lahaul Spiti, skiing (in season), paragliding at Bir, and white water rafting in Kullu. Just want to take in pretty views? Khajjiar is it. Take a deep breath and fill your lungs – and heart – with fresh air.

No Chance Of The Netherlands? Try Srinagar

Amsterdam in the Netherlands is known for its tulips, and so is Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir. Every spring, both cities become a riot of colours. The place to find them in Srinagar is in the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar, nestled in the foothills of the Zabarwan range, with the Dal Lake as a stunning backdrop.
