HALSEY: THE EPITOME OF CREATIVITY

STRUGGLING ARTIST

Halsey's stage name is an anagram of their first name combined with a memorable street in Brooklyn where they spent a lot of time growing up and fending for themself. As a child, Ashley Nicolette Frangipane moved from town to town as their parents struggled to find job opportunities after dropping out of college to raise their child.

Halsey was unable to attend the Rhode Island School of Design because of tuition costs. They did, however, manage to enrol in community college, but dropped out and was consequentially kicked out by their parents. Halsey struggled for years, couch-surfing and even contemplating prostitution at one stage. To their surprise, it was creativity and God-given talent that helped them survive in the end.
