The headmaster of Champakvan School, Shersingh lion was quite strict and punished the animals harshly even for small mistakes.

Despite that, the animals at the school did not stop being troublemakers even after getting punished often. And among them were Meeku mouse and his friends, Jumpy monkey, Sally squirrel, Jumbo elephant, and Gigi giraffe.

One day, Shersingh summoned Meeku to his office to punish him for some misdeed and asked Meeku to stand holding his ears.

Damru donkey, the janitor, entered Shersingh's office and said, "Sir, the flag for the Republic Day celebrations has arrived."

"All right, Damru! Keep it behind the cupboard. I'll take a round of the school and come back. And Meeku, you'll stand here until the bell rings."

Although Meeku was already being punished in the headmaster's office, he was still up to no good.

The final bell would ring soon, so everybody was busy wrapping up for the day. Meeku quietly picked up the flag from behind the cupboard and hid it inside his coat.

When the bell rang, he came out of the headmaster's office, grabbed his bag, and went home, which was close to the school.

He dropped his bag at home and went straight to his friend, Jumpy.

"Jumpy, look! A flag!"

Before he could say anything more Meeku's other friends also arrived, as they usually gathered after school to play.

Sally saw the flag in Meeku's hand, bared her teeth, and said, "It's not just any flag! It's the tricolour!"
