KILLING ON CAMPUS

There’s a certain air of fear and frustration in the remote college town of Moscow, Idaho. It’s a place where people have always felt safe walking around late at night. There hasn’t been a murder in the town in seven years. It’s the kind of town where you’d feel OK about leaving your doors open. Students at the local campus even leave their bikes unlocked because they trusted their community. There was no reason for the townspeople to be fearful – until now. Now, there’s a killer on the loose in Moscow.

It was an ordinary Saturday night for the town’s university students, filled with fun and socialising. On November 13, close friends 21-year-old Madison Mogen and 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves were at a Moscow bar, the Corner Club, between 10pm and 1.30am. They were captured on video surveillance cameras visiting a food truck and ordering pasta. Both appeared to be perfectly fine – happy even. Ten minutes later, they got a lift home from a “private party”. Police have told journalists this person has been investigated and is not a suspect.
