Gwyneth Paltrow ON TRIAL

Gwyneth Paltrow is accustomed to controversy in Hollywood (see breakout), but it’s been a skiing collision in Utah that’s seen her face her toughest scrutiny yet. The incident occurred in 2016 when she was holidaying at the Deer Valley Resort with her children, Apple and Moses, her future husband Brad Falchuk and his kids, Isabella and Brody. “This was a significant trip for us,” Paltrow told the court. “It was the first time Brad and I were introducing our kids and doing something together to see if we could blend families.”

It would turn out to be memorable for an entirely different reason. Paltrow, 50, is accused of being “distracted” and “reckless” when she allegedly crashed into retired optometrist Terry Sanderson, 76, on the slopes. Sanderson is seeking $450,000 in damages, claiming he suffered four broken ribs and sustained brain damage that altered his personality. “Before this crash, Terry was a charming, outgoing, gregarious person,” his lawyer explained to the jury during opening statements. “He was living a full life, travelling the world – doing everything possible to enjoy his life and guard his health. But after the crash, he’s no longer charming.”

Paltrow’s legal representation has labelled the claims as “utter BS”. The Goop guru is countersuing and seeking a symbolic $1 in damages plus legal fees.
