Personal trainer extraordinaire Joe Wicks shares his tips for getting moving!
FITNESS SHOULD BE FUN

Whether you discovered his YouTube workouts during the pandemic or have been following him for years, UK trainer Joe Wicks is known as the man who puts fun into fitness. Just as importantly, however, he also makes exercise relatable.

So if you’re struggling to carve a space to work out between everyday career and family demands, Wicks says he totally gets it. “I think because of the pressures of life and work, it’s difficult to find time,” says the father of three.

But there’s one key point he wants you to consider – how much better you’ll feel afterwards. “Really, it’s essential for your mental health to stay active,” he explains. “For me, exercise is a stress relief valve. It makes you happier.”

RULE #1 CHANGE YOUR FOCUS

Exercising to lose weight can be a long and difficult slog, but you’ll start feeling the emotional and physical benefits straight away.

“We live in a world where it’s all about image. We all want to look good but it’s not what gets you exercising,” Wicks says. “What gets you exercising is how you feel at the end of it.”

While physical changes will come eventually, they shouldn’t be your end goal. “Really, the mental health benefits and the energy you get from exercise, that’s what’s going to draw you back every day,” he says.

RULE #2 BE AN EARLY BIRD
