FITNESS... AL FRESCO!

There’s a lot of great reasons to stay physically active and when you combine it with the great outdoors, the benefits go even deeper. From fresh air to sunshine and spending time in nature, there are so many reasons to take your workouts outside.

“Adding an outdoor workout to your weekly fitness routine has many benefits in addition to helping you improve your fitness,” Sam Waller, a fitness expert and owner of Stepz Fitness says.

DOSE UP ON VITAMIN D

Around one in three Australians have some degree of vitamin D deficiency, so this is a great opportunity to top up your levels. “Aside from getting fit, adding an outdoor workout to your fitness routine is a great way to get vitamin D while enjoying the sunshine,” Waller says. “Studies have shown that vitamin D is crucial for various health benefits, and the easiest way to get this is through sun exposure. Vitamin D can reduce inflammation, and help absorb and retain calcium, which is critical for building bone.”

GET MORE OUT OF YOUR DAY

“As the days get longer with the season changes, it is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the extra time,” Waller recommends.
