FOR HER MASTERFUL TURN IN TAR, THE STAR HAS ALREADY WON A FEW BEST ACTRESS GONGS- AND IS TIPPED TO COLLECT MANY MORE, INCLUDING AN OSCAR
Cate Blanchett - GRATEFUL AND HUMBLED'

With two Oscars already in her trophy cabinet (for The Aviator and Blue Jasmine), Australian actress and mum-of-four, Cate Blanchett, 53, learnt German, studied orchestra conducting and brushed up on the piano for her role as a complicated conductor in the Todd Fielddirected drama, Tár. “It’s always overwhelming to be even mentioned as a nominee,” she tells WHO. “I feel very lucky.”

Tell us about this film.

Tár is the story of Lydia Tár, who is a maestro, a consummate musician, a composer and a conductor – all of which puts her in a position of great cultural power. The film starts with her in her element, then we see the things that haunt her from her past start to slowly bring it all crashing down.

Were you ever concerned about playing such a flawed character?
