Riley Takes Charge

Riley is putting on a brave face as she continues to grieve the death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, who died on Jan. 12 at the age of 54 after going into cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, Calif., home. “Lisa Marie’s passing has hit Riley very hard,” says a source, “but she went back on the Daisy Jones & The Six press tour because she knew how proud her mom would be of her.”

The loss of Lisa Marie isn’t the only thing weighing on Riley’s mind. The new mom — who secretly welcomed a daughter in 2022 — has been at odds with her grandmother Priscilla ever since the 77-year-old contested Lisa Marie’s will, which left Riley and her late brother, Benjamin (who committed suicide in 2020), in charge of Lisa Marie’s estate. “Riley and Priscilla are not getting along right now,” says a second source. “It saddens Riley, but everyone knows Lisa Marie trusted Riley more than anyone in her life. Riley’s set on remaining the trustee — backing down isn’t an option.”

FACING OFF

For years, Riley and Priscilla were close. But Priscilla dropped a bombshell when she filed an official court petition on Jan. 26 challenging a 2016 amendment that her daughter had made to her will to remove Priscilla and Lisa Marie’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, as co-trustees and replace them with Riley and Benjamin. (Lisa Marie shared Riley and Benjamin with her first husband, Danny Keough, and went on to have twins Finley and Harper, 14, with her fourth husband, Michael Lockwood.) “The situation with the will being contested is a real mess,” a source told Us at the time.
