Last month, Hleziphi (Sibongiseni Shezi) found out that her best friend Nonka’s (Thuthuka Mthembu) boyfriend, Kwanda (Sandile Mfusi), was using Nonka’s business as a front for his drug trade. After failing to alert Nonka, Hleziphi called the cops on the business, for them to make a bust.
It’s only then that Nonka realises her involvement with the drug operation, but it’s a little too late. “One day at work, Nonka is surprised to see the police barge in, looking for drugs. And when they find them, she’s in utter shock. She had no clue this was happening, and she’s immediately overwhelmed with denial.
“When she phones her boyfriend uKwanda, he kind of blows her off and tells her she should figure it out. In that moment, Nonka feels extreme betrayal: She’s put in the uncomfortable position of fending for herself by someone she loves,” Thuthuka says, feeling sorry for her character.
