Hayden Panettiere wants to set the record straight. In a jaw-dropping new interview, the Nashville star opened up about why she signed over full custody of her daughter, Kaya, now 7, to her ex Wladimir Klitschko, in 2018. Struggling in her personal life at the time, the 33-year-old claimed she was forced to allow the former boxer, 46, to be the primary parent. "It wasn't a discussion," she told the panel on Facebook's Red Table Talk, adding that she "didn't even know it was happening" until her daughter was already in Wladimir's native Ukraine. It was, she said, "the most heartbreaking thing I've ever, ever had to do in my life."
The devastation continued as the little girl grew up away from the Heroes alum. Hayden recalled one "horrifying" phone call during which Wladimir laughingly told her the then3-year-old was asking to call other women mommy. "My heart stopped," Hayden told the panel. "He thought it was funny. He didn't get it."

To the former child star, the confusion was her daughter's "trauma reaction" to being separated from her. "That's a cry for help," she insisted, adding, "It was a trauma that she was experiencing, me not being around." "It could turn into anger, depression, whatever it is but it will be trauma."&nbsp;
In the end, Hayden, who had several run-ins with the law in 2019 and 2020, understood that as painful as it was, she had done the best she could. "I was going through such a hard time that I knew the most unselfish thing I could do was to make that hard decision and just try to work on myself."&nbsp;
