'So many of us are suffering'

New mum Jess Wright speaks out about her battle with postnatal depression and how nobody needs to feel alone

Jess Wright has been on an emotional rollercoaster since having her first child, a boy named Presley, last May. The former TOWIE favourite, who’s been married to businessman William Lee-Kemp since September 2021, has opened up about feeling a sense of guilt about missing her old lifestyle – even before her son had been born.

Chatting to I’m A Celeb winner Giovanna Fletcher on her podcast Happy Mum Happy Baby, Jess, 37, recalled the moment when, at 12 weeks pregnant, she realised how drastically her life was going to change.

“I just burst into tears, like my life is going to be gone, isn’t it?” she confessed. “Obviously, I felt such guilt, because I was like, ‘I want this baby and I am so happy I’m having this baby but, oh my God, I’ve just realised life is different.’ Because you’re not just a mum, you’re also the person you were before. It’s like grieving your old life.”
