1966-2023
Rock legends U2 and Sir Bob Geldof led the thousands of fans, friends and family who gathered for Sinéad O'Connor's funeral last Tuesday, when the groundbreaking singer was laid to rest in the town she called home.
Several close famous friends attended the service in Bray, Co. Wicklow, to pay their respects to the Irish star.
As thousands of adoring fans lined the seafront street on Ireland's east coast, her coffin was driven through a packed crowd, with fellow Irish singer and Boomtown Rats frontman Sir Bob, 71, who was part of the funeral cortège, looking solemn as he followed in a van alongside Sinéad's father and her former partner Frank Bonadio.
MARK OF RESPECT
Also in attendance were U2 band members Bono, Adam Clayton and The Edge, who collaborated with Sinéad on 1997 hit I'm Not Your Baby and appeared grief-stricken as they left the funeral venue. Bono and The Edge had taken guitars into the service, but did not perform.
