They were stolen in 2005 while on loan to the Judy Garland Museum, located in the star's hometown of Grand Rapids, Minn. The shoes - one of four pairs Garland wore shooting the 1939 classic disappeared for a dozen years despite a $1 million reward for their return. Collector Michael Shaw, who owns the footwear used by Garland's character Dorothy, was devastated. He received an insurance payment seven years after the heist.
Finally, in 2017 a man notified the insurance company he knew where to find them. A year later the slippers were recovered in an FBI sting operation in Minneapolis. But no arrests were made at the time. For the moment, Martin says his lips are sealed.
