DEVESH SHARMA
WELCOME TO LUCKNOW!

All roads lead to Ramada by Wyndham, located in the heart of Lucknow, on July 16, as it was the venue for CSP Foods presents Filmfare & Femina Bhojpuri Icons, co-hosted by Filamchi Bhojpuri. Filmfare and Femina, the iconic entertainment and lifestyle brands of the renowned Worldwide Media, a Times Group company, have always been at the forefront of recognising outstanding contributions in a variety of fields. These two prestigious brands collaborated for the first time to celebrate excellence in both the reel and real fields. This unique event brought together luminaries not only from the Bhojpuri film industry but also from the arts, entrepreneurship, education, sports and social work.

Superstar Ravi Kishan and dynamic Vishal Aditya Singh, along with dashing Yash Mishra and the gorgeous Smrity Sinha, were the hosts for the evening and kept everyone in splits with their witty takes. Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha is a cultural icon, and the whole gathering was on its collective feet when her name was announced as the winner for Outstanding Contribution In Music.

Ravi Kishan requested the songstress to sing a line or two, and the singer sang a song dedicated to the river Ganges. She then spoke about her long association with Bhojpuri music, stating that she started out in the ’70s by assuring record companies that she’d pay from her own pocket if her albums incurred a loss. Thankfully, they didn’t, and that kind of opened the door for independent Bhojpuri music.
