12th Fail was the standout film at the 69th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2024 with Gujarat Tourism. The biopic took home trophies like the Best Film and the Best Director - both of which went to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, as also the Best Actor Critics' which went to Vikrant Massey. It also won the Best Screenplay and Best Editing trophies. The other big winner was the action drama, Animal. Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) trophy for it, and the film also went on to win trophies in the Best Music Album, Best Playback Singer (Male), Best Background Score and Best Sound Design categories. The Best Actress Critics' trophy was shared by Shefali Shah and Rani Mukerji. They won it respectively for Three Of Us and Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to veteran producer and director David Dhawan, who's known for his comedy films. Here's looking at all the winners from the big night.

David Dhawan, who is known for his massy comedies, began his career with Mahesh Bhatt’s Saaransh in 1984 as an editor. His first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Director came from the box office success of his 1993 film Aankhen, which starred Govinda, Chunky Pandey, and Kader Khan. His first movie as a director was Taaqatwar (1989), starring Sanjay Dutt and Govinda, who became his favourite actor.
