Elizabeth Taylor admitted that she had been blessed. "Everything was handed to me. Looks, fame, wealth, honors, love," she said. "But I've paid for that luck with disasters, terrible illnesses, destructive addictions, broken marriages."
Married eight times to seven men, Elizabeth never stopped searching for an all-encompassing, lasting love. "Each marriage is her trying to be something other than Elizabeth Taylor," explains Kate Andersen Brower, author of the new biography Elizabeth Taylor: The Grit & Glamour of an Icon. "I get the sense that she was very lonely."
