ENHANCING SAFETY AT THE SHOP FLOOR
Manufacturing Today|July 2023
THE SHOP FLOOR, WHERE WORKERS ARE ENGAGED IN VARIOUS OPERATIONS, CAN PRESENT NUMEROUS HAZARDS THAT PUT EMPLOYEES AT RISK.
ENHANCING SAFETY AT THE SHOP FLOOR

SAFETY ON THE SHOP FLOOR IS OF UTMOST importance in the manufacturing industry. It plays a crucial role in enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and ensuring the workforce possesses the necessary skills to excel in today's fast-paced manufacturing environment. “An organisation needs to make safety an important part of their organisation’s culture, with leadership teams becoming safety champions. The safety process should provide a sense of ownership to employees, making them more motivated and committed. Organisations should also ensure that positive reinforcement and safety measures go hand in hand. An organisation’s safety program should have a clearly stated purpose and goals for its workplace. Organisations should reinforce the need for safety through regular training, which is instrumental in developing a safety culture,” says Abhijit Kulkarni, Manager Consulting Services, Pilz India Private Limited.
