THE FASHION industry is among the most polluting and carbon-intensive in the world, but it hasn't faced the same kind of scrutiny as, say, the oil or automotive sectors. That's poised to change, with a new spate of regulations coming into effect in Europe and the United States. The goal of many of these laws is to create a circular system in fashion, where garments are worn as long as possible before being recycled into new ones.
