From September this year, the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) will have a new home at the Mount Verde Estate in Hilton about a kilometre away from the N3 offramp.
This is also where the show will take place in future.
RAS CEO Terry Strachan said more than 100 000 people had visited the final show in Pietermaritzburg.
Spread across approximately 13 exhibition halls and 350 trade stands, the Royal Show was known for its mix of agricultural offerings together with family entertainment.
Visitors had the chance to interact with livestock and learn more about livestock farming in South Africa.
