ON THE MARK

With the massive demand for housing, there's a need to minimise impact of inefficient homes and build green. There are solutions available that are market-friendly. EDGE Green Building certification helps you realise how better your building is as compared to your peers. It focuses on the three categories of resource efficiencies: 20% better in terms of the use of energy, water and materials. The software helps you measure each of these metrics individually.

Available in more than 170 countries, EDGE has a global footprint of 93.8 million m2, and has certified a floor space of 32.7 million m2. In India, EDGE has a footprint of 11.59 million m2 and the pandemic helped compelling more developers to build green.

In this context, International Finance Corporation (A World Bank Group) and Construction Week organised a webinar, Being Future Ready With Edge Green Building Certification, to educate the real estate sector on ways they can arrange for a sustainable future and healthy lifestyle.

Autif Sayyed, South Asia Lead- Green Buildings, EDGE Green Building Market Transformation Program, Climate Business Department, IFC, took lead and began the elucidation by offering to throw light on the various tools available to build green.
