<p id="2">De Savary&rsquo;s involvement with the America&rsquo;s Cup was remarkable: his 12-metre yacht&nbsp;<em>Victory &lsquo;83</em> was beaten in the final heat of the 1983 America&rsquo;s Cup by the eventual winners <em>Australia II</em>, while his <em>The Blue Arrow</em> entry in the 1988 edition lost in the courts before reaching the racecourse.</p>
<p id="3">Born in 1944 in Essex, England, de&nbsp;Savary&rsquo;s career was eclectic. Expelled from school at 16, he went on to found many successful companies, ranging from import/exports, to oil fields and property. In 1988 he founded Pendennis Shipyard, which continues to specialise in restorations and custom builds.</p>
