Our young hunting crew showed up Friday evening for some chow and casting lessons. We reviewed the events for the following morning, including safety and hunting best practices. The hunters were up at the crack of dawn and at the STA by 6:30 AM. The group split up into teams to cover more area. It was game on!
Each hunter had an opportunity to hook, harpoon and harvest a gator. The gators ranged from 6.6 ft. to 7.10 ft. We had a couple of novice hunters in the group, but you couldn't tell it by the speed in which the tags were filled. By 9 AM, we were heading for the cleaning station, where each hunter learned the techniques required to harvest a gator.
