When it comes to selling SUVs in India, there are two formulas which are sure to be successful. The first approach is to make vehicles affordable and shove them to the brim with features. The second and more unconventionally, you offer a proper utility vehicle which ticks the performance and features checklist. When it came to the Tata Safari, it was a vehicle which might not have been affordable but was definitely a vehicle for those who wanted rugged, go-anywhere ability complemented by a premium interior. Continuing it’s legacy, Tata Motors has launched the new 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari, but added different flavours to both machines. So, what’s new? Is it more than just features and the legacy their name plates carry? Let’s find out!
EXTERIOR DESIGN & DIMENSIONS
When it comes to its overall dimensions, the 2023 Tata Safari is longer, wider and taller than its outgoing version. However, with its size going up by just 7mm in length, 28mm in width and 9mm in height, you will really be hard pressed to tell the difference between the new and older Safaris. On the other hand, the dimensions for the new Harrier remain exactly the same as the outgoing version. And when it comes to design, the story remains the same. Looking at them from a distance, nonenthusiasts would find it difficult to instantly recognize them as the latest versions. Step closer though and that’s when all the details help differentiate the two new SUVs. You now get a larger and bolder parametric front grille with body-coloured inserts which Tata Motors refers to as ‘chicklets’. This is complemented by a one-piece LED DRL strip right on top, and a two-tier LED headlamp set up on either side.
