The theme of the show was predominantly electric, with all major carmakers showcasing EVs that will soon go into production. This trend was picked up by two-wheeler brands as well, although most of them were new players.
MARUTI SUZUKI JIMNY
The Jimny was probably the biggest unveiling of this year's Auto Expo. The five-door version of the lifestyle 4X4 SUV made its global debut at the show, and bookings are now open for the vehicle across the country. Mechanically, the new Jimny will be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol K15B engine, which offers 103bhp and 130Nm. It will come mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. Initially, the SUV will get two variants - the Zeta and Alpha. The Jimny is a true-blue SUV, which is why it sports a ladder frame chassis. The 5-door version is 300mm longer than the 3-door version. Price? It's expected to cost between ₹10 lakh and ₹14 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be sold through the NEXA premium dealer network.
MARUTI SUZUKI FRONX
The Fronx takes design cues from the Grand Vitara and the Baleno and sports a beefed-up appearance. Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx will have a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol Booster Jet engine, which was earlier seen in the now-defunct Baleno RS. It will be coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual. It'll also get the Baleno's 1.2-litre petrol engine. Features wise, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless charger, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, six airbags, and other features are among those that have been added to the model. The Fronx is expected to have prices starting at ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It'll go on sale in April 2023 through the company's premium Nexa outlets.
