BAJAJ CHETAK PREMIUM
Engine: PMSM Battery Pack: 3.2kWh Power: 5.4PS Torque: 20Nm Range: 126km (IDC) Weight: 134kg Top Speed: 73kmph (claimed) Price: ₹1.44 lakh ex-showroom
As ironic as it may seem, the Chetak, made by mainstream bikemaker Bajaj Auto, had been a left-field alternative to electric scooters made by startups like the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X. It offered a different approach to electric scooters, prioritising solid engineering over tech like colour TFT displays and inbuilt speakers. However, changing with the times is important and for 2024, the Chetak receives significant updates to appeal to the younger lot. Does it manage to stay relevant without losing its identity?
