Who are you?
Laura and Ian Wilkinson. We’ve been touring since 2000 and have travelled across the UK and Europe several times. We live a mile away from Fleetwood, so we are only a seven-minute drive from the lively town centre and the beautiful beach.
Why are you a local authority?
We were both born in Lancashire and retired here in 2017. We always wanted to live by the Fylde Coast and we have an excellent knowledge of Fleetwood because we go there practically every day to shop, take a stroll along the promenade and use the amenities.
What do you love about it?
It’s a good-value town with free parking in most places, free fishing from the beach and bargains galore to be found in Fleetwood Market.
Along the promenade, there is also a good swimming pool and a gym.
There are local bakers and butchers in the high street and the town has retained much of its grand Victorian splendour. You can see that in the sweeping, curved exterior of The North Euston Hotel, where Victoria visited when the railway came to Fleetwood.
