Daphna Wysokier Dishi was born in 1977 in a small agricultural community located in the Negev desert of Israel. Having grown up in a rural desert landscape, Daphna was always drawn to the quietness and stillness of the land and was captivated by the earthy colors and rough textures, which she later explored in her paintings.
After completing her military service in the Israel Defense Forces, she set off to live in Melbourne, Australia, for the next 13 years. During that time, Daphna's passion for art deepened through her studies in painting with the artist Dena Lester and studying photography with the documentary photographer Emmanuel Tolentino Santo.
