EXPLORING HUMAN CULTURE
JOSÉ JEULAND

A firm believer in chasing one's passion, José Jeuland embarked on an atypical journey at the age of 25 as a professional triathlete.

He participated in various competitions internationally, not knowing that his days of globetrotting would soon lead him to discover his passion.

His strong interpersonal skills and curious, benevolent gaze on the world led him to form invaluable connections with people from diverse walks of life.

With an appetite for documenting lesser-known cultures worldwide during his travels, he kick-started his journey as a professional photographer.

José's first independent documentary project Landing in Jeju Island, was for a trail running race in 2016. He used this opportunity to pursue photography and curated a photography exhibition inspired by 'The Haenyeo women divers of Jeju Island.

The exhibition was hugely successful and was widely featured in various international publications. The portraits were also showcased during the iconic Irish rock band U2's concert in Seoul as part of a tribute dedicated to powerful women in Korean history.
