Windows, fenestrations, and cladding are critical elements of a building's envelope and they can make a compelling case for natural ventilation and light within a space.

Windows and its arrangement are an integral part of a building’s structure as they enable it to function efficiently on multiple fronts. Architectural masterpieces are as much about the windows’ fenestrations as they are about the built form being complementing elements.

CLADDING CALL

There are two types of cladding, wet cladding, which is the application of the cladding material directly on walls like stone and ceramic tiles, and dry cladding - the application of the cladding material on another substrate which is fixed on the wall, like CenturyExteria HPL panels, ACP, and the like.

“Each material has its advantages and considerations, and the choice often depends on the specific needs and preferences of the project. Cladding enhances structural integrity, providing support and protection to the building envelope. High-quality cladding materials offer superior resistance to weather elements, ensuring durability and longevity. Certain cladding materials provide insulation, improving energy efficiency and reducing heating or cooling costs. Cladding acts as a barrier against water ingress, preventing damage to the building structure. Some cladding materials are designed to be fire-resistant, contributing to overall safety measures. Durable cladding materials often require minimal maintenance, reducing long-term upkeep costs,” says Shankho Chowdhury, President, Decoratives division, CenturyPly.
