ONE of the many amazing things about horses is their versatility. You only need look at the work of charity Retraining of Racehorses to see how horses can excel at a myriad of different disciplines with the right training.
The same goes for huntsmen’s horses. Some never take to being ridden in the field even in their dotage but plenty do. Some, it seems, go on to fulfilling lives in completely different spheres.
At the end of the hunting season Adam sold a couple of his horses. Tigger, a gangly grey that he used for hound exercise, was bought by friends as a hunter, so that was straightforward.
