LINKS have been found between horses’ genes, stress responses and behaviour.
Scientists at University College Dublin and Plusvital Ltd in Ireland’s study examined stress hormone cortisol in 100 thoroughbred yearlings and the results of a questionnaire as the horses encountered key milestones in early training.
It found observations of the yearlings’ behaviour did not tally with the cortisol results.
