TO write this sentence is to tempt fate, but sound the trumpets – my horse finished the season in one piece. All four of his legs may fall off tomorrow, of course, but he bounced home from our last day’s hunting two weeks ago sound and in very bonny form.
I’ve been trying to add up how many days Flynn has done, and I think – including autumn hunting – it is 26. There have been a few gaps for things like our hounds coughing, frost and my workload, but I think, at the age of 21 (him, not me, sadly), that’s pretty good.
