The fit way to eat fit.
A Hollywood hottie said to her interviewer, “I make sure I eat a spoonful of coconut oil every day. For the antioxidants in it, you know.’
What a change in the scenario.
Twenty years ago, everyone was condemning coconut and its oil. Eating coconut in your food or cooking in its oil ( as Keralites do) was akin to committing hara-kiri. We ate coconut chutney with idli and dosa with a spoonful of guilt.
Now the world has turned topsy-turvy and coconut is being touted as the best thing after ambrosia.
This paradigm shift of moving away from worrying about cholesterol and trans-fats to instating sugar as the villain of the piece is the new trend.
Meanwhile, carbs are being dumped by the millennials. The older ones are off rice. Those in their thirties have off-loaded wheat as well. Now, all hail quinoa, millets, corn and exotic new grains I cannot even spell correctly.
Ghee that was taboo for years now, is displacing most oils. Olive oil reigns supreme. Its makers are shoveling money into their bank accounts. Margarine is positively a bad word with butter regaining lost ground.
The one thing that is holding onto its spot in the popularity charts is water. Have buckets of it. Spritz it with lemon juice, add slices of cucumber, fruit of any kind but drink it all day. If you can afford it,buy ‘Evian’ water. What is special about it I can’t say but the hi-fliers are all tripping on it.
