Why I Never Gave Up Fighting

Western Australian mum Annette Murcott found strengths she didn’t know she had after being emotionally and physically abused by her partner for years, being falsely accused of his murder, thrown in a brutal jail and then diagnosed with cancer.

Annette’s nightmare started just six months after she fell in love with burly miner Bevan Michael Anderson after her relationship with her then-sixyear-old son’s father ended.

Bevan moved into her house in the small WA mining town of Pannawonica.

“He became cruel and started punching me,” Annette says in her memoir, I’m Not Afraid Of You. It details a disturbing account of extreme abuse, love, murder, family loyalty and police corruption, which saw her unjustly imprisoned for three years after being charged with Bevan’s murder in March 2003.
