The star’s once-thriving neighbourhood is now far from safe

Paul Hogan made a rare outing from his $4.5 million home in Venice, Los Angeles, last week, looking frail and wearing scruffy clothes as he drove to a nearby service station.

After coming out of the store clutching some money, the 81-year-old Aussie actor immediately drove back to his “fortress-like” home.

More than a year after the coronavirus pandemic swept across the US, the area where Paul lives with his son Chance, 23, has become swamped by thousands of homeless people.

Last year, Paul revealed how he was desperate to leave the US and return home to Australia but had to remain in LA because of his son.

STAYING FOR CHANCE

The legendary larrikin told the Evenin’ Viewers With Paul Hogan podcast, “I can’t wait for this stupid disease to go away so I can get out.

“I’m like a kangaroo in a Russian zoo – I don’t belong here.”

He added, “I’m here out of paternal duty because my kid is an American.
