Following the raging success of recent Elton John and Freddie Mercury biopics, another famous British musician is getting the Hollywood treatment – Robbie Williams – and the new film about his life promises to be weirder and more wild than those that have come before!
Australian director Michael Gracey, who says the script is finished and ready for production, has plenty of material to work with when it comes to the former Take That star-turned-solo artist’s life.
“Robbie is fully on board with the project and has allowed a warts-and-all take on all of his crazy antics over the years,” says a source.
“The plan is to add some fantasy elements, and while Robbie won’t be playing himself, he will be singing a few of the musical numbers.”
There’s been no confirmation of who will take on the role in the film entitled Better Man, however some insiders say casting directors have been looking “very closely” at One Direction star Harry Styles, 27, and Australian Stranger Things actor Dacre Montgomery, 26. “They have a big decision ahead,” says a source.
“Once they’ve sorted that, they’ll have a huge job casting Robbie’s many loves and flings.”
Now married to Ayda Field, Robbie, 47, has many famous notches on his bedpost, including Cameron Diaz and Geri Halliwell. He even told friends he bedded his Somethin’ Stupid duet partner Nicole Kidman, saying he “might as well!” – though she reportedly denied the claim, saying, “No? He’s gay, isn’t he? I thought everyone knew that?”
