Embattled TV star Karl Stefanovic has plenty of reasons to be feeling downcast, with close friends fearing their usually upbeat mate has been struggling in recent weeks.
Heartbroken and home alone after his wife of two years, Jasmine, and their 16-month-old daughter Harper headed to Queensland, Karl’s self-confessed boozing during lockdown has raised some eyebrows.
“He’s not even in denial! He actually went on live radio with his old mate Brendan Fevola and admitted he’s been hitting the drink hard,” a former colleague and close friend told Woman’s Day.
STACKING IT ON
Calling into Melbourne’s 101.9’s Fifi, Fev & Nick two weeks ago, Karl, 47, laughed off his 13kg weight gain, and admitted he’s been drinking more than usual.
“I rediscovered my love for alcohol,” he said. “I try and muster all the courage I can to get past midday before I have a drink. And then I just start with light beers and then I gradually move up to vodkas and then I’m asleep by seven o’clock.”
