How One Woman Brought Down The Block

The bogus buyer strikes again as another victim comes forward

It was one of the most successful Block auctions ever, with each home in the 2020 season reaching well over their multimillion-dollar reserves. And while records were broken, so were its winners, Jimmy and Tam Wilkins, when they found out that their 1950s-inspired home was sold to a woman who failed to complete the sale.

Emese Fajk, 28, caused national headlines late last year when it was revealed she had failed to pay $4.256 million for the home she won at auction. Although she’s backed up her claims of innocence with a series of bank statements, another purported victim has come forward saying she had a run-in with Emese just months before The Block’s auction in November.

The woman, a designer from Europe who wishes to remain anonymous, says she worked for Emese in August but has failed to receive almost $1000 payment for her work.

“I own a design company and she solicited us to create the branding for her new business,” the designer claims.

“I, of course, never received what she owed me and heard a billion excuses about how her bank wasn’t cooperating, but she swore again and again that she paid me.”
